Yesterday’s Treasures Antique Mall & Artisan Gallery is a priceless Chesterton landmark. Cindy and Dave Winter own this 20,000 square foot mall and provide an opportunity for members of the community to sell their wares. They currently have 80 vendors.
for members of the community to sell their wares. They currently have 80 vendors. “Our vendors are passionate about their items,” Cindy Winter said. “It also helps them supplement their income, so it is rewarding to be a co-owner with my husband. It’s a blessing.”
There is something for everyone in Yesterday’s Treasures. There are heirloom antiques, hand-crafted artisanship, books, furniture, contemporary items, and more. The mall contains thousands of unique things and one could get lost for an afternoon exploring the historic two-story building.
“People are always surprised at how big it is in here,” Cindy commented. “They also often comment that their grandparents had certain items and it stirs up fond memories.”
Yesterday’s Treasures is not your average store. In fact, it serves as an unofficial museum. According to Cindy, people from around the world visit to get a glimpse of American culture. For 35 years, there is a pin board map that shows foreign visitors’ countries. For Cindy, antiques have value and don’t belong in the dumpster.
“These items carry on tradition and memories,” Cindy said.
